I finished!

In about a 24 hour time span I read Water for Elephants.  Did I talk to my husband on Friday night?  Nope.  We both geeked out.  I sat on the couch and read and he setup his final cut pro buttons.  Sounds like a exciting evening at the Garcia house.

I loved Elephants.  I think it was the perfect book to get me amped about reading again.  On Saturday night we had a double date with his sister and her husband to see the movie.  Did it hold up?  Yes and no.  I hated the beginning, but once it started I was able let go and enjoy.  Of course there were a few things that bugged me about the movie that were twisted just a little bit.  It is Hollywood after all.

Did you see it? What did you think?  Sorry this isn't the most animated review.  I am a little hungover today and in vacation mode-2.5 days until my vacation to Atlanta.  A full Easter recap coming tomorrow.

Happy Easter!

handprint-easter-lamb-activities-for-kids.jpg

I wanted to wish ya'll a Happy Easter!  I hope you have a wonderful time at chruch/brunch/egg hunt/family dinner or whatever you do to celebrate.  We will be heading to Duke's in Malibu for some yummy brunch and then back to our place to hang out with friends.

I came across some pictures of me from Easter 1991.  My mom actually still has the dresses and pulled them out of Friday night when I emailed her the pictures.

Water for Elephants

Last night I got this great idea that I should read Water for Elephants before I see the movie.  Great idea right since almost always the book is better than the movie.  Well we have one little problem.  MAG, his sister, her husband and I are all going to see the movie tonight at 8 PM.  What is a girl to do?  Yesterday afternoon I booked it to B&N after work, ran home and started reading.  I am about a third of the way through and my boss is out of town today so I will have most of the day to read.  Have you read the book? Are you going to see the movie?

Our New Baby

A few weeks ago water was spilled on our laptop during a dance party:( We can't live without a computer.  We had to bite the bullet and get a new one, but not just any computer-the most expensive Apple desktop available-not my idea {I would have taken an iPad}.   Last night our new computer arrived!  In the long run I know it is a good investment.  We will have this for 5+ years.  MAG will be able to edit/work with no problems.  He was like a kid in a candy store last night loading Final Cut Pr0-nerd alert.  It will make his life a lot easier.  Here is a picture of our new baby and MAG's workspace!

PS. 6 days until I leave for Alpheretta:)  So excited to see everyone!

what i'm loving wednesday ~

*I am loving that it is Wednesday!  Half way through the week :)

* I am making myself go to the gym tonight.  I have come to terms that I might not loose any weight before the BIG wedding next week, but working out will make me feel good about my body.

* I love my new chambray shirt from the JCrew Outlet and I love the price too!
J Crew I Heart Chambray Shirt

* I love that in 7 days I will be leaving for good olde Alpharetta.  I can't wait to see my bestie walk down the isle, my family and Mellow Mushroom pizza.

*I really LOVE that we are narrowing down our options for Hawaii!  Seriously this trip can't.come.soon.enough!

*I am loving Celebrity Apprentice-lame I know.  Kind of sad Gary is gone.  He was pure entertainment.

I Hate LA Type of Day

My friends and I have a love/hate relationship with LA.  Most days we love living here, but every once in awhile we have what we call an "I hate LA day!"  This is typically caused by traffic, gloomy weather when it should be sunny, rude people in the grocery store or paying a ridiculous amount to live here.  What is causing my I hate LA day?   I don't want to be at work. MAG and I had a great weekend and I wish we just had one more day even though I love my job.  Not having a vacation day between Jan-May is a long time.  Corporate America, we need more vacation time!!!! You probably think the same thing.  Don't you wish one day we could be living the life we dream we deserve.  Until that happens you will find me in the ghetto of Downtown LA Monday-Friday where I am scared to leave for lunch because skid row is a couple blocks away. Awesome ;)

Hope you are having a fabulous Monday!

New Favorite

Don't you love it when you find a song that you LOVE?!  It is all your can listen to?  Well I found mine Wednesday afternoon.  I was driving home and all of a sudden this song came on the radio.  My windows were down, sun roof open and music up.  Thank you Shazam for knowing the name and artist so I could listen to it all day on Thursday. {Side note: I Shazam-ed this in February on Pand0ra but never listened to any of their other stuff.  I won't be making that mistake again.}

Foster The People are coming into town on my birthday, but my parents are going to be here:( They are also playing in Santa Barbara in June.  I think this might call for a road trip!  I read one article on them and it said they are MGMT meets Young Kids with a hint of Empire of the Sun {& I love EOTS a lot!}

Enjoy and HAPPY FRIDAY!!!  Any fun plans?

Update:  Of course on the back of Women's Wear Daily they have bands to watch at Cocahella this year: Foster the People!  The song became viral when Anna Sui used it in her fashion show.  I bet these guys are on cloud 9.  I love stories like this:)

I NEED This...

Spring has just hit Southern California!  This makes me very happy :)  Each spring/summer I start the great debate with Marco on getting a convertible.  I have wanted one since I was a teenager.  Why haven't I gotten one yet?  When I lived in Atlanta they were only practical a few months out of the year, I couldn't afford one at the time and my dad said they were a bad investment.  Well, now that I can make my own decisions {love you Dad!} I am seriously considering getting one for my next car.  Here are my top contenders:

In my dream world this is a very reasonable option ;)

The bottom two are probably my most viable bet with getting one even thought I don't think MAG would agree with the Mini.  So many people here have them and they are so cute.  Who knows maybe one day you will see me cruising up the PCH in my navy blue convertible with tan interior?!  Do you have a convertible? Do you love it or do you wish you got something else?

Spring/Summer Shopping List

I am the type of shopper who LOVES to buy things on sale and will do so just because they are on sale even if I am not 100% in love with the item.  This has resulted in a lot of wasted money and a closet full of clothes that are  just okay in my eyes.  In January I came across this blog post.  It has truly changed the way I go shopping.  JCB picked 40 items that she wanted for the year.  She is only going to buy what is on that list.  It is broken down into different categories and she gives herself 5 wild cards.  I have tweaked this process for my liking: 30 Items for Spring/Summer including 5 wild cards.  Each item has a budget as well.  I don't expect for me to get all 30 items because some are more on the pricier side, but this will help me stay on track for when I enter JCrew and want EVERYTHING!

Five Pound Goal In 18 days?

Since my childhood best friends wedding is just a short 18 days away I have decided I need to rev-up my workouts to look great on her wedding day.  Mel and I have been each others biggest support team since we both decided to loose weight.  Neither one of us is over weight, but I know I feel like I could look better.  Since Christmas I have lost 8 pounds.  This number could have been hire but I am not the healthiest eater around.  I am not knocking my accomplishment at all.  I am actually really proud of it.  I just have about 10 pounds left before I reach my goal weight of 135.
Silk taffeta Selma dress
My dress is similar to this one from the crew.

Yesterday, I tried on my BM dress and it was a little big.  When I first bought it almost a year ago it was tight and not flattering at all.  I had the fold over armpit fat {eww!}-y'all know what I am talking about and I am sure you feel the same way.  As I was looking at myself in the dress I thought I wonder what I would look like with another 5 pounds gone.  So I decided that I am going to strive to lose 5 lbs by April 30th.  I know that is a lofty goal since it has taken me 4 months to loose 8 lbs, but I think I can do it.

Here is my plan:
Workout
4 to 5 days a week alternating between cardio and C0re Fusion DVD's for toning
Glutes and thighs that look like this, yes please!

Eating
Track my calories using the L0se It! app for iph0ne
Use my food scale for accurate portion control
Drink 96 oz of water a day
Drink only one weekend night for the next two weeks
Eat out once or twice per week

I am open to any suggestions or ideas so please pass them on :)

20 Days

In 20 days I will be flying home for, Melissa, my childhood best friends wedding.  To say that I am excited is an understatement.  Her wedding is something she has dreamed about forever! Even though I am 2200 miles away she sends me updates all the time and actually wants my opinion on HER wedding.  On April 30 I can not wait to stand next to her as she says her vows to the man of her dreams.  Mel, I am thrilled you have found your Prince Charming!

Mel and I on my wedding day in her pretty JCrew dress.
Very similar to the one I will be wearing on her special day:)

Hiking Excursion

Last weekend we went hiking in Malibu. MAG’s brother is in town for Spring Break.  He told us he didn’t want to do anything touristy.  We thought it would be fun to take him hiking.  The hike is about 3.5 miles round trip and you pass 3 waterfalls.  This time we decided to rock climb up on top of the waterfall.  I have never been rock climbing.  It was so scary!  The only reason I did it was because I didn’t want to be left out.  The entire time I was replaying the 127 H0urs trailer in my head.  Kind of dramatic?  Yes.
