Welcome To Atlanta

Although I consider LA my home now, Atlanta will always hold a special place in my heart.  I lived there for 24 years in the same 35 mile radius.  I grew up in Roswell/Alpharetta, when to college downtown and lived in Virginia Highlands & Buckhead before making the big move out west.  Even though I only get back once or twice a year max I have my list of must dos while I am visiting.  They mainly revolve around food, go figure.

1. Noche, Virginia Highlands-I have had so many wonderful memories here over their amazing sangria.  This is where M and I had dinner the night he proposed to me.

2. Mellow Mushroom, The Avenues-If M and I can figure out a way to franchise this place out here we will be instant millionaires, I’m convinced.

3. Ippolitos, Norcross-I worked here for 3 years in college and had the time of my life.  There are many days when I am super stressed out I think back to a simpler life of waiting tables and how much I really loved it.  This mom and pop Italian food is to die for, but you could easily get full on the garlic rolls.

4. The Forum, Norcross-I love this outdoor shopping area.  It is quaint, has my favorite store {J. Crew} and just feels like the south while walking around.  Also the landscape is always perfect.

5. Tin Lizzy’s, Buckhead-I have gotten wasted here more times than I can count.  Such a fun spot to meet for happy hour and their margaritas are super yummy!

6. Souper Jenny’s, Buckhead-I used to work 5 minutes from this place and totally regret not going more often.  They have the best sandwiches and soups.  If you don’t go here what a-shame

7.The Grandparents House, Cumming-Each time we come home we spend one afternoon chatting with M’s 80+ grandparents and their puppy Molly.  They want to hear all about life in LA, what we are up to and tell us all the family gossip.  It is so fun to hangout and get our quality time in.

8. Murphy’s, Virginia Highlands-This place is iconic VH.  Their brunch is to die for.  You might have to wait forever, but trust me it is worth it.

9. Chick-Fil-A, Everywhere-Yes, I know I might get some flack for this, but you don’t grow up in Atlanta without loving Chick-fil-a.  Breakfast, lunch or dinner it is amazing anytime of the day, except for Sunday which is when I always want it.

10. Our Parents House, Alpharetta/Johns Creek-It’s a tie.  I couldn’t pick one over the other, which would start world war three.  Kidding.  There is something about being home for the holidays that makes me so happy.  Seeing our family, friends, wide street lanes, lots of greenery and manners makes it feel like home.  We don’t have any plans of ever living in the south again so we have to enjoy it while we can.

I hope Santa brought you everything your heart desired this year!
Today M and I are waking up with my parents for gifts and brunch, then off to his parents house to celebrate and then a family dinner with both sides.
I am so grateful our families spend the holidays together.  Makes it so fun!

Letters

Woke up this morning feeling fabulous!
Ashley isn't doing the link-up until the new year, I just feel this is such a fun way to wrap up the week, so here we go...

Dear Atlanta, This evening we will grace your with our presents and I couldn’t be more excited about it.  To see friends and family over the next week makes my heart so full!  Dear Allie & Brock, I feel like I am going on a home makeover show when we arrive at your house tonight.  Knowing you completed your guestroom just in time for our stay means the world to us.  It will be so nice to have a home base for our stay this trip.  Also the rental car is awesome too.  Best sister {in-law/husband duo} ever!  Dear Mom, Dad, Sandy, Steve, Rebecca, Kristie & Taylor, I am so looking forward to our dinner tomorrow night.  The evening will be filled with amazing drinks, food, laughs and perfect company.  I know tomorrow night I will feel completely, totally blessed.  Dear Self, Remember these moments.  Dear Delta, Please keep M and I safe as well as everyone else traveling this holiday season.  The world doesn’t need anymore tragedy.  Dear Santa, I’ve been pretty blessed this year, the number one thing on my Christmas list this year is for M to have the opportunity to make his movie.  I know  God has a pretty fabulous plan for us so I am willing to be patient.  We are ready for whatever he has planned;)  Dear Zero Dark Thirty, You exceeded my super high expectations! 2 hours and 40 minutes flew by!   I was blown away by Jessica Chastain's performance.  Seriously hand this girl an Oscar now.  Ms. Bigelow you killed it again.  I love that you are a woman directing big, bad war movies.  Seriously inspiring! To my friend, Banner...it's always fun seeing your name in the credits:)

Christmas Card Link-Up

Today I am linking up with Kristen over at All In My Twenties with our Christmas card this year.  Each year I love picking out our card.  We typically stick with something pretty traditional because that's what the husband likes.  Believe it or not, he is pretty traditional when it comes to Christmas, which surprises me as much as it might you.

XOXO Gossip Girl

{images via}

Goodbye Gossip Girl:(  For the past 6 years this has been one of my favorite TV shows and no matter how corny it became I watched it every week religiously.  I couldn't have been happier with the outcome.  It was perfect in my opinion.  I received my happily ever after and I am not addicted to Florence + The Machine's You've Got The Love.  Perfect ending song.

Weekend Update

This weekend was one for the books.  It was absolutely perfect.  Friday night was our holiday happy hour at the office.  Our Mammoth trip was announced, I was able to chat with my amazing co-workers and feel the holiday spirit all around me.  I can’t believe how lucky I am to work with such amazing people everyday.  Seriously I am beyond blessed.

{Our office holiday decor}

Later that night I met up with Ashley, Julie & Michaela.  Ash was in town to go to a bridal shower in Santa Barbara the following day so she stayed the night with me.  We talked about blogging, the holidays and just girl stuff.  It was fun having a sleepover with the girls, but not one photo was taken.  Blogger fail.

Saturday morning I was up bright and early to see the girls off and then started my jammed packed day.  It was my best friend’s sons, first birthday!  In about 3 hours she was having 30 people + 8 kids over to celebrate.  Needless to say we were in “go-mode” up until the first guests arrived.  The day was filled with lots of laughs and watching the kids play.  It was perfect!

{how adorable is this little guy?!}

Sunday was a rainy day here so football, movies, reading and Chinese takeout was the perfect ending to our weekend.

Even with all the joy around us this weekend, our hearts were heavy with the sad news on Friday.  The children, parents, teachers and community are in our prayers.
