Make Lemonade

Sometimes life is full of surprises, today is one of those days.  My boss resigned and took the CEO position at Lululemon (announced today).  As sad as I am to see him go, I am so excited for his new opportunity.  Seriously it's a dream job (after Louis Vuitton, Burton & T0MS, of course) and he is the perfect fit according to Business Insider.  It also doesn't hurt to have a friend who works for your favorite workout brand.  Congrats LP!!  You were a dream to work for and hopefully we will have the opportunity to work together again someday soon.  As for me, I am staying at T0MS supporting the COO.  Life is good here in Southern California.

Eat Pray Love

Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert changed my life.  It came out when I was getting ready to move to LA and I was scared.  I quit my job, moved home and was waiting tables.  I felt like I had the entire world at my fingertips.  As I was reading I found myself highlighting passage after passage; I just couldn’t get enough, it became my anthem.  Although I’ve only read it once and I despise the movie {not a Julia Roberts fan}, this book will forever be apart of shaping my early 20’s.

"You have more good luck than anyone I've ever met. You will live a longtime, have many friends, many experiences. You only have one problem in life. You worry too much. You always get too emotional, too nervous. If I promise you that you will never have any reason in your life to ever worry about anything will you believe me?

For work, you do something creative, maybe something like an artist, and you get paid good money for it. You always get paid good money for this think you do. You are generous. Also one problem. You will loose all your money once in your life. I think it will happen soon."

M knows my dream 40th birthday present is a mini Eat Pray Love trip with my girlfriends.  Ahh what an amazing gift that would be!

32

Happy Birthday to my darling husband, M.  Today 32 years ago you graced the world with your presents and I couldn't be more grateful.  Cheers to a wonderful day/weekend filled with the ones you love.  I love you and can't wait to see what the next year has in-store for you.  xo, Peach

A Job

I absolutely 100% love my job!  Each and everyday I wake up and can't wait to see what the world has in store for me.  When I took the Birkman test I scored very high with creative jobs as well as social service industries, so obviously T0MS is the perfect place for me.  We create amazing products that give back worldwide.  Yes, working for the President as his assistant does have some struggles, but they positives far out weigh the negatives.  I basically get to come to work each day and work with like minded people who want to do more for humankind.  Also, our office is kind of amazing.

A failure

The "NEY" Sisters
2007

This one is hard because who really likes talking about their failures in life.  One of my biggest regrets is how I treated my friends when M and I first started dating.  He very quickly became my world.  All I wanted to do was spend time with him and I left my friends on the way side.

There is one friendship that sticks out in my mind particularly.  Courtney and I met in pre-school and were instantly inseparable.  We would spend the night at each others house, go on vacations together when we got older, our lives were very intertwined even though we didn't go to the same school.  Some of my favorite childhood memories are with her.  When M and I started dating Court was now not a priority.  Over the next few years we drifted in and out of each other's lives and ultimately our friendship fizzled out shortly after college.  We are still friends on Facebook, but it's a really pathetic comparison when you are talking about someone who you've known since you were 3 years old.

If I could go back in time I would have put the energy into our friendship.  We live across the country from one another, but there is no reason why we can't still be in each other's lives.

A Talent

I've never thought of myself as one with many talents so I almost thought about skipping today, but why not challenge yourself to think outside the box.  One thing that I'm very proud of is that I'm very good with people.  I guess you could call this a talent?!  I recently took a personality test called the Birkman and I scored in the 99th percentile relating to people in groups and 62nd percentile when relating to individuals.  My Executive Mentor said this means that I really, really, really like people.  I laughed out loud when he told me this because one of my favorite memories is waiting tables {yes, I know a lot of people hate it}, I absolutely loved it.  I loved getting to know my customers, it made me really happy.

In the next few weeks I will go more in depth about my Birkman experience.  It is truly amazing what I've learned about myself.

An Experience: The Thankful Project

November is one of my favorite months of the year.  My darling husband was born, Thanksgiving, changing of the seasons, really there is nothing not to like about the month of November.  I came across a new blog this morning, Chasing Happy, and loved her link-up.

An Experience
The one experience that I will forever being internally grateful for is moving from Atlanta to Los Angeles 5 years ago.  In high school when M told me he wanted to purse a career in Hollywood I knew it would mean leaving the only place I’ve ever lived.  He was so passionate about his dream and I knew he was “the one” that I could never have said no.  I didn’t want to be the girl who stood in the way of his dream.  After 10 years of knowing we packed up my car two days after getting married and headed west to our new life.

Our first year was hard, really, really hard.  I guess you could say the first 6 months I basically cried all the time and wanted to move home.  We weren’t living the glamorous life I thought LA would offer.  As time passed I became more comfortable living here and making it our home.   We have amazing friends here and a job that I love!  At this time in my life I can't imagine living anywhere else.

Sometimes I like to play mind games with myself and imagine what our life would be like if we moved back or stayed in Atlanta.  It’s a great life, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not the life for us.  LA is home for us now and probably forever or at least until M makes it big and we can build our ranch in Montana.  Either option will do.

Five on Friday

{1}
I have never been more grateful for my own car.  M's car has been in the shop for the last 4 days, so we have been carpooling.  Knowing that you are stuck at work until he's ready to go has made me truly appreciate my freedom.  We are also a few thousand dollars lighter, but I'm not going to think about that.

{2}
Have you heard of the app Heads Up?  Well if not, download it not, you also might have seen it on The Ellen Show.  It is pretty incredible.  My co-workers and I take a 15 minute break around 5 PM each day and play.

{3}
Christmas.  M and I were going to go to London for the holidays and visit his sister and brother-in-law, but after pricing it out and tracking flights for over a month we decided against it.  Damn the exchange rate.  After lots and lots of talking we decided to stay in LA.  I've made Christmas Eve dinner reservations at Mastro's, scouring Pinterest for Christmas dinner ideas and am even thinking about going to Mammoth for a few days.  It might not be what we are used to, but we will make it the perfect Christmas for us.

My half-marathon is less than a month away and I am freaking out.  What did I sign myself up for?!  I have 16 training runs left until the big day.  Honestly I can't wait to get back to my normal workout routine of Soul, Barry's and classes at work.  I miss the variety.

Big weekend plans ahead folks.  On my agenda is to clean, clean some more and organize.  I am so over the clutter in my life.  I can't wait to re-organize our apartment and purge.  These problems occur when you work for apparel companies.  Too much stuff!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday, y'all!

{1}
Tonight I get to see my best friend from 5th grade!  We haven't seen each other in the flesh since we were 11 and her family moved to PA.  I am so excited she and her husband are in-town for a wedding this weekend.

{2}
Less than 1 month until my half marathon! 21 runs left. Whew!

{3}
Yesterday was World Sight Day.  Here at T0MS we were raising awareness about how 80% of the worlds blindness can be cured.

Just another day at the office
{5}
Our office is doing a October water challenge-drinking a gallon a day.  Have you ever tried this?  It is so much water!  After the first day I quickly realized this was not going to happen for a month so my new goal is 75 ounces, which is still a lot of water!

FIVE

Five years ago today I walked me down the aisle to meet my now husband at the alter.

Five years ago we said our goodbyes to friends and family.

Five years ago we left for a world unknown and I couldn’t be more grateful.

In five years we’ve made a pretty nice life for ourselves.

In five years we’ve made amazing friends who have become our new family and made this journey worth it.

In five years we’ve grown up from naive 20-somethings to being more realistic about our journey.

Thank you M for asking me to marry you.
Thank you for taking me out of the bubble.
Thank you for constantly supporting me in each venture I peruse.
Thank you being you, I am eternally grateful for you each and every day.

I love you babe!

Emmys

I love the Emmys mainly because I am a TV whore.  Breaking Bad, Homeland, Girls, Modern Family and Scandal are just a couple of my favorites at the moment.  I love when Hollywood gets dressed up for a fancy night out to celebrate their craft.  Personally, I thought the fashion was a little underwhelming, but there were a couple gems in the mix.

Love this color with her hair.

When she stepped out on the stage to accept her award I immediately thought she was the best dressed of the night.

Kerry Washington, You. Can. Do. No. Wrong.  #girlcrush

Pale pink with creamy skin=perfection

Tina Fey looks unreal!  Seriously I think this is the best she's ever looked!

Five on Friday

1. Blogging.  Hello old friend, I've missed you!  Hopefully life has settled down for a bit and I can get back into the groove of things.

2. Barry's Bootcamp aka The Kardashian Workout.  Holy hell, have you ever taken one of these classes?  My co-worker talked me into attending with him and this has quickly become one of my favorite ways to blast calories on Friday mornings.  This class makes you believe you are stronger than you think you are and run faster than you think you can.  You can do anything for 30 seconds right?!

3. Kerry Washington, could you be any more beautiful?  Also, can I steal your wardrobe from Scandal.  White is my favorite color to wear after all. Yes, I'm late to the party, but that Lulu jacket you're wearing at the end of season 2 is to die for.  It's already on my Christmas list.

4. Soul Cycle-Brentwood's 1 year anniversary!  A short 10 months ago I stepped into this studio wearing ratty workout clothes for a team ride I planned for my co-workers.  In that 45 minutes my world changed.  This weekend they are celebrating their anniversary with team rides, Pressed Juice, and a photobooth.  Do I sound LA enough for you?! My best girlfriend and I are taking a team ride with two of our favorite instructors.  We can't wait!

5. iOS7. Wednesday night M and I both uploaded our phones and are obsessed.  My favorite new feature? The ombre text messages.  Also, when Apple first announced Apple Radio I swore I would not use it.  Pandora only for this girl, but I gave it a shot and love it.  They are very sneaky with allowing you to purchase the song right there.
