Friday's Letters

Dear Big Bear, Impromptu camping trip this weekend with friends?  Yes please! Dear Marco, I am dying to know what my birthday present is…normally I can guess it but this year I am stumped.  Not a clue.  Dear Hair, You are getting the VIP treatment this week.  Fresh highlights, a trim and maybe a trip to DryBar on Thursday morning.  Dear Running, You are so hard.  I should have never taken a break because getting back in the habit is awful.  Dear Sick Day, Being sick sucks, but being stuck in bed with an ipad and One Tree Hill Netflix instant episodes make the day just a little bit better.  Dear OTH, In episode 16 of season 1 where Nathan tries to pick up Halley by telling her he has a DSL internet connection made me feel real old.  Dear Atlantans, The high is 107 tomorrow?  Bless your heart!

Happy Birthday!

Today is my parent's birthday!  Yep, you heard right, both of them. The even crazier thing is I was due on their birthday.  My mom always jokes about how I would never want to actually share my birthday so I was 10 days late.

Mom & Dad,

I hope you two have a wonderful day that starts out with coffee on the deck enjoying the morning breeze before it gets too humid, then lunch with friends and a nice dinner together.  In less than a month we will all be together and I can't wait to celebrate.  A ticket home is pretty much the best birthday gift ever.

Love you! Love you!

Bday Wish List

July is right around the corner which means one thing to my husband and family:
My Birthday month!

Growing up my birthday always lasted a month because each year my parents rented a house on Pawley’s Island the week of my birthday, then we always celebrated with my grandparents and then a friend party.  As I’ve gotten older my celebrating has calmed down a bit, but Marco knows I take my birthday more serious than Christmas.

I would be lucky to revive anything on this list!

Weekend Recap: Hollywood Bowl & Fifty Shades

Happy Monday friends!  What a fabulous weekend!

Friday morning Marco and I were offered box seats to the opening of the Hollywood Bowl.  Every season my company buys two boxes for this event.  Someone last minute backed out so I was offered the tickets.  It was our first time attending the bowl and boy did it surpass our expectations.  Since we were in a box a three course meal was served with a bottle of wine.  Talk about fancyJ  Reba McEntire and Chaka Kahn were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame hosted by Julie Andrews.  Fireworks ended the show, it was beyond magical.  If you ever have the chance to attend a show here, do it!  You won’t be disappointed.

JULIE ANDREWS!!!
I wanted to go home and watch the Sound of Music.

YOLO and HOLA, LA's Phil Kids Wind Ensemble
Sidenote: The conductor who leads the children's program scored Marco's senior film.  It was pretty cool!

Mr & Mrs at the Hollywood Bowl

Saturday was errands day.  Since we decided not to move we wanted to invest some $$$ into our place.  New bedding, organizational stuff, new dish towels, flowers for our porch.  Our first stop of the day was Chick-Fil-A in Redondo Beach and then 5+ hours of shopping.  Spending 2 hours in Target was amazing.
M's best friend/DP, Sing, in ATL shooting Luda and Diddy's new music video-random but I had to share:)

Love free samples from Target

Later that night we went over to our friends house, drank wine and talked about movies.  One of my friends works for a top management agency and a Producer has been named for Fifty Shades of Grey.  It hasn’t been announced, but I like where the studios heads at.  We also talked about casting Mr. Grey.  Supposedly there is some serious talks with a certain Hollywood actor to play the role and I will say I haven’t seen him on anyone’s suggest casting list.  The dude can act, but not sure if looks wise the roll is for him.  Like yall I am dying to see who they end up casting, with schedules and contracts until shooting starts anything can change.  Hollywood is so fickle.

Sunday we slept in, relaxed, indulged in some fast food, dropped off items at Goodwill, walked to the beach, grocery shopped and planted flowers.

This never gets old
All in all it was a great weekend!  How was yours?

Friday's Letters

Dear Self, Sometimes you don’t need to speed through things in both work and life.  Take your time and do it right the first time.  Dear Entourage, Long lost TV friend I have missed you.  The past two nights catching up on the last season have reminded me on all the fun things this industry has to offer.  Our time will come, our time will come.  Dear Weekend, We have so many fun plans for you this weekend.  Shopping for our apartment, drinks with friends, running by the beach, Chick-fil-a, love getting back to our normal routing.  Dear Sports, Now that basketball is over I have NOTHING to watch until late August.  What’s a girl to do?  Dear Marco, I love you and am still extremely happy we decided to stay where we are.  Dear Blogs, I miss you.  Is work crazy my new normal?  I hope not.

Crush

After I out grew my hardcore 5th grade crush on JTT, I moved on to Prince William. For years he was my #1, even to the point where I wrote him a note with my picture in it. I got a response from his formal secretary and still have the letter today to prove it. Major dork status!

Today Prince William turns 30, inherits $15.7 million and is married to a pretty stylish chick. What a great gift!

I truly wish his mom was able to see him now. She did a great job raising two very attractive gentlemen, in my opinion. Cheers Prince Willie!

Balboa Blate

The world of blogging is amazing.
Sometimes you even have the opportunity to make real life friends because of it.
Enter Julie.
We met through blogging.
She found my blog about 9 months ago from a link up.  We instantly connected because we are both born and raised in Georgia.  That weekend she was organizing a meet up in the OC so I thought, what the heck, I'm in!
Fast forward 9 months later and we text, email, blog, facebook one another weekly!

About a month ago my when Marco was out of town we planned to get together so she could give me a tour of the OC.
Balboa might be my favorite place in the world so to walk around with a great friend taking pictures sounded like a no brainer.

Here are some pics from our blate!
Next time our husbands will be involved with dinner at Palomino's and dessert at Diddy Reise.

Lunch at Cheesecake Factory

Entering Balboa over the bridge

One of the many way too cute cottages on the island

This one might be my favorite.  It might be because of the plates?

The flowers were beyond beautiful!

Oceanfront? Yes please!

The cutest old couple lived here.  We spoke with them for about 20 minutes.  They bought the house on a whim over 25 years ago and could barely afford it.  They rented it out and finally were able to retire here about 7 years ago.  The husband has a Starbucks walking group, how cute it that?

One of the tinniest homes on the island.  I would still live here though.

What I would do for a little piece of earth...

Chocolate covered Banana anyone?

The Warhol app to match Julie's outfit that day:)

It's a God thing!

There have been many times in my life where I have questioned the path I am going down.  Right now I have never been more sure that this is exactly where we should be.

We decided against moving to Toluca Lake.  It was a gut instinct based on a handful of instances with our potential new property manager.  His actions and words didn't sit right with us. The final straw was on Saturday afternoon while we were packing.  He called and wanted to know if M was a doctor or lawyer since he has quite a bit of student loans.  {Four years out of state will do that, duh?}  This left a really un-easy feeling in both of us.  Who is he to question our student loan debt and what we choose to do for a living?  Especially when we pay our bills on time!  After a few hours of debating and continuous packing I gave M a sheet of paper.  I told him to write stay or move and we would switch.  I went into the kitchen and he stayed in the family room.  We both wrote STAY.  Immediately we both felt a sense of relief.  It was amazing.  We headed over to our friends place for celebratory drinks at 1 AM.

No dog in our near future but honestly this whole experience has put our wants vs needs to perspective. A puppy is something we still want, but realize we don't need her to make us happy.  When the time is right we will welcome a precious Frenchie into our lives.  I am so blessed to be living in LA with the man that I love, pursing our dreams and have a roof over my head. Right now life is perfect!

Happy Father's Day Pops!

Pawley's Island, SC 1993
Happy Father's Day Daddy!
You have been a saint raising three girls.  You deserve some kind of metal.  I know it wasn't always easy for you, but you did your best trying.  I love that we share a love of most sports and that come college football season our talks are consumed by them.  I wish I could be there to celebrate with you, but I know my sisters made up for me not being there.
Love you!

Being Grateful

Yesterday was a pretty special day for Marco and I.  It was the 14th anniversary of the day we met.  I can now say I have officially been with him for half of my life-crazy and corny at the same time.

When we met I was a young teenager on the verge of being out of control {my poor parents}.  It was the first weekend of summer vacation and we became completely inseparable.  I remember thinking this is too good to be true.  After a few months together I knew this was the man I was going to marry.  My friends couldn’t grasp the concept, they thought I was crazy.

The best thing for our relationship was when M decided to go off to school 5+ hours away in North Carolina.  At first I was devastated.  We had been inseparable for 6+ years.  The thought of not seeing him every weekend crushed me.  It took some time to adjust, but during this time apart I was given the opportunity to find and figure out the person I wanted to be.  This was the greatest gift I could ask for.

Marco, we chose the unconventional route for sure.  Some days I love it and other days not so much.  We only get one life and I am so grateful we chose one another to share it with.  Our hopes and dreams are a little intense/out there/unrealistic but they are ours and have been the same since day one.  I love you and can’t wait to see what the next 14 years have in store for us. Movies? Travel? Babies? A house?
