Work Event Recap

Last night MAG and I attended an event for work at The Standard Hotel in West Hollywood.  Overall I must say it was okay.  Just okay?  Yes, because the crowed wasn't really my type.  The party was put on with this magazine.  It's a hipster mag and that is totally fine.  Our brand caters to a lot of different type of people.  When I categorize myself I don't fall into that hipster style.  Let's be honest here, I dress super preppy.  JCrew is my favorite & my biggest fashion risk is wearing silver glittery Toms.

On to the celebrities.  I saw a few people who I recognized, but nobody I would freak out over.  Kanye was definitely my biggest celebrity sighting of the day.  Here are a few pictures from last nights event.

Richie Rich

Debi Mazar

Keri Hilson

Vampire Diaries

Overall it was a fun evening and I am thankful I was invited.  Can't wait to see what invite comes next!  And I guess you all know where I now work?!  Please don't write anything on my blog about it.  I would like for my company to not know about what I do in my spare time. and it will pop up on Google Alerts:)  Thanks!!

Celebrity Sighting

This guy is having lunch at my office right now with the owner/founder of my company.  As you can probably image very little work is being done right now due to all the gossip.  Just another day at the office.

Top Two Tuesday...

Top Two Celebrity Hairstyles

1. While I don't really consider Kristin to be a celebrity, in my book she is a reality start {two different things}, regardless of her celebrity/reality star status this girl has great hair!  I have a love/hate relationship with short hair.  When my hair is long I want it short. When it is short I want it long.  I just can't win. If I were to cut my hair short this is what I would get.

2. Not only is she one of the most beautiful women in the world, she has the most amazing hair.  I love everything about it.  The length, the color and curls.  I think I would give up my TiVo to have hair like hers.

Yesterday I was in a bad funk.  It was awful.  I hate it when I am like that.  MAG said he was determined to make me happy when I got home.  What did he do?  Force me to go to the gym and run.  I was not feeling it, but once I got there I pushed myself and was so happy to be there.  I literally left smiling ear to ear.  I woke up this morning feeling refreshed and ready to start the day.  I didn't realize how much I missed working out this past week.  Tonight we are heading to a work event at The Standard Hotel in West Hollywood.  I am am sure there will be some celebrity sightings which I love. Keri Hilson is performing.  Not sure who she is but I have heard her name before. Goodie Bags will be involved and who doesn't love free stuff?!  Can't wait to give you the full recap tomorrow:)

Sad :(

I hope ya'll had a nice St. Patty's Day.  Ours was interesting.  Yesterday my sister-in-law texted me saying they wanted to get together.  I told her that I was really tired from a busy week and just wanted to be at home.  We went back and forth for a little bit and deiced that we would touchbase later in the day.  Fast forward to about 7 PM.  I received a text saying that they really want to come over.  We were not into it, but one drink, would that really hurt us?  Nope, especially if we didn't have to leave our apartment.

They arrive around 9 PM.  We talk for a little bit and then Allie says she has an announcement.  I blurt out, "You're pregnant!"  Everyone laughed because that might be the #1 question we get asked all the time from our family member when we say we have an announcement.  I digress.  She says no, they aren't pregnant, but they are moving home. {Insert Britt's sad face here :( } This did not come to a shock to MAG and I at all.  We have known for awhile that they aren't happy here and I totally understand, LA is not for everybody. What did shock us was when they are planning to move home, MAY 9th!  That is less than 2 months away.  I didn't cry, I wasn't surprised, I just kind of sat there.

This is the right move for them.  I told them that they are their own family now and what MAG & I think doesn't matter.  It has to be right for them.  The saddest part about this whole thing is we will never live by one another again.  Some may think, never say never, but I am pretty confident that we will be out here for at least 20+ years.  This is our home now.  No going back to good old Alpharetta.  They are in the process of buying a fixer-upper condo.  Both of them are obsessed with HGTV so this makes sense.

When I was driving to work today "Touch of Grey" by the Grateful Dead came on.  The song started to make me cry about the situation-not 100% sure why, but it did.  Allie has been such a big part of my life since I was 14.  We are best friends even though we fight like sisters, we lived together in college and both had dreams about moving to Hollywood.  What makes me the most sad is that she won't be able to experience this adventure with me.  MAG is going to do great things and I am going to be able to reap the trophy wife rewards {note sarcasm here} and she won't be here to experience it with me.  In the words of the Grateful Dead, "I will get by."  Now if Corey leaves me I am screwed ;)

On a happier note, my boss is taking MAG and I to the Lakers Game tonight.  We have floor seats!!! I hope to sit next to Leo, Becks or Jack.  How cool would that be?!

Note: If you know Allie and are FB friends with her. Please don't say anything yet.  They are not finished telling everyone.  I wrote this because I knew it would help me sort through my feelings.

Ultimate Goal

I came across this home the other day while surfing blogs.  For me a home like this is the ultimate goal.  I can see MAG and I living and raising our family here.  It is in the perfect location and you have views of the ocean.

It can be yours for the small price of $11.9 Million.  That means your mortgage would only be around $49 K per month for 30-years with $2.3M down.  I don't know what's worse, the fact that I look at super expensive homes or believing that I will live in on of them someday.  This girl needs a reality check!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I used to think there were really leprechaun!  In Kindergarten or First grade they came to visit us on St. Patty's Day.  My class went to specials and when we came back our classroom was covered with glitter, desks were turned over, there was a rainbow on the chalkboard with a pot of fake gold at the end and Irish music was playing.  I remember thinking how awesome it was that the leprechaun visited our classroom from Ireland!  Oh to be so young and not have a care in the world.

I hope you all have a fun, safe time tonight drinking your green beer!  MAG and I will be spending a quiet night at home.  This week has been super busy and our weekend is even busier, so it will be nice to take it easy.

Oh and March Madness starts today! Can't wait to be in Vegas and bet on some games:)

Out Of It

For the past few days I have been out of it.  I would typically blame the time change, but it started on Saturday so I am not sure what's my deal?  This past weekend was pretty low key.  Just the way I wanted it.  Friends came over Friday night for Chinese and drinks.

Saturday went to Tender Greens for lunch {yummy!} That evening we went to Nobu for dinner with MAG's sister, uncle & brother in law.  Dinner was AMAZING!  If you ever have a chance to dine there do it-you won't regret it.  MAG's Uncle was in town for one night before a meeting in Cabo so he wanted to take us out.  He love Nobu and dines there whenever he can.  Needless to say we didn't open a menu.  He just ordered for us.  We had 2 bottles of wine and endless food.  I know I am hyping this up but it was truly the best sushi I have ever had.

Sunday we went apartment hunting, so you would think we are moving right?  Well, not quite yet.  We both really want to get a dog but finding a dog friendly apartment in LA is hard.  Especially on the westside where we live.  It is actually really annoying because we live by a park and the beach-plenty of space to walk a dog.  We are starting to look now and will hopefully move by fall.  Both of us can't wait to add a new addition to our little family.

Sorry no pictures...honestly, I wouldn't want to bore you with those.  Nothing exciting happened this past weekend:)

Top 2 Random Facts About You

1. I am obsessed with my hair and skin.  I know a lot of girls care about their skin & hair, but I am obsessed with how soft mine is.  I am always playing with my hair to twirling it {when I am at home}.  If my hair isn't soft one day I get annoyed.
2.   I wear jeans everyday.  One of the perks of my job is that I don't have to wear dress pants.  This might be one of my favorite things about my job:)

Sin City

Its official, we booked our trip to Las Vegas for the end of this month! After weeks and weeks of discussing where we should go, what we should do we finally decided on Sin City!  We are staying at The Venetian and got an amazing deal.  Both of us need to get away from La-La Land for a weekend, especially MAG!

6. Venetian, Las Vegas

Venetian Las Vegas lobby

What to do? We are open to suggestions!  We might go to a show but might not.  We want to go out for a fun nice dinner and an all you can eat buffet Sunday morning for breakfast.  I want to go shopping and explore the new City Center.  Maybe MAG will surprise me with a shopping spree just like The Bachelor {in my dreams!}  I want to workout at least once while I am there but I think it might be wishful thinking.  It is just that there gym looks so nice. I want to take it all in.  I keep hearing it is a whirlwind experience and I just can't wait.  We might need a vacation from our vacation.

Do you ever....

..have days that you are just annoyed with life?  That you feel sorry for yourself when you have no valid reason to?  Well I am having one of those days.  Not too sure why:(  My morning started off a little bumpy, but once I got to work everything has been fine.  I wish I had more willpower to get out of the bed in the morning so I wouldn't be so frantic, but I love those extra 5 minutes.  Anyways enough whining!

This past Sunday some friends and I ventured out to Hollywood {this is a very rare occurrence}.  If you have every been to H-Wood then you know it is not a place you want to hang out unless you are going to a club.  One week a year it is clean for the Academy Awards. Just about everything in Hollywood is fake.  Okay done ranting! We went to Five0Four for a Crawfish boil.  Our close friend is from Louisiana so the culture has rubbed off on us and really any reason to day drink on a Sunday with friends is a good thing.

Top 2 Things you've learned about relationships

1. Don't ever let go of your dreams.  This is a hard one for me.  When MAG and I first got married I felt that I was giving up a lot for him to pursue his dream of becoming a Director.  I was leaving the only state I had ever lived in and moving to a place I had visited every couple years.  Now that we are 2.5 years into our new life I truly believe this is how it was all supposed to happen.  I am living out my dream of working in Corporate America in Operations.  We are in the process of taking the steps needed in order to get to where we want to be in the future.

2.  Be realistic.  Husbands are not mind readers.  If you think that then you could be setting yourself up for failure and too high of expectations.  Don't be afraid to tell them what you do want.  I have come to learn that this is the one person in life who isn't going to judge or make fun of you.  They love you unconditionally, faults and quirks included.

Friday Decisions

I am THRILLED it is Friday!  This week has been crazy busy.  Tonight MAG and I are debating on what to do for dinner.  Awesome, I know.  One thing about LA that is a little annoying is they don't have chain restaurants in the city.  Yes, they have fast food, but good luck finding one of the following:

Chili's
Olive Garden
Outback

For these restaurants you have to venture outside of the city limits to Manhattan Beach or Burbank.  Last week I told MAG I was craving chain restaurant food.  Strange, I know.  Then he responded, Yes!  We must find a Chili's.  Seriously sometimes we are so in-sync! So now the debate begins, Chili's or California Pizza Kitchen.  Ridiculous I know ;)

The weather should be nice this weekend so I am sure our plans will entail a run at the beach, a gym day, farmers market, grocery shopping, laundry, drinks of our porch-sounds like fun stuff right?!  Sunday we are heading into Hollywood to try out Five0Four.  It is a new New Orleans themed restaurant.  They are having a a Craw Fish Boil for Mardi Gras.  It will be fun to hang out with friends, listen to the band, drink daiquiris and eat beignets.

What are you plans for the weekend?!

PS. Thanks for your sweet words yesterday in regards to my shredding fiasco!  All is well.  My boss was very appreciative.

Annoyed!

Don't you hate it when you make mistakes at work?!  I do.  I feel that I am a very dedicated employee and take my job very seriously.  Yes, I do read blogs at break and sneak in some FB time daily, but overall I think I am an asset to my company.  {Big headed not really, I just want to be a good employee.}  So when I f-up at work I hold on to it a little longer than I should.

Today was one of those f-up days.  Last night before I left I shredded, which is something I do every night.  Well I accidentally shredded something I wasn't supposed to.  It wasn't the end of the world but I felt awful because I had just created more work for my boss.  What did I do?  Go through the shredder and pull out the tiny shreds of paper and pieced it back together.  Yep, took me a whole hour to do.  When my boss got back from his meeting he was so happy that it made me feel like less of an idiot.

shredder cartoons, shredder cartoon, shredder picture, shredder pictures, shredder image, shredder images, shredder illustration, shredder illustrations

Is anyone else thrilled it is Thursday afternoon?  I am.  Tonight is our weekly girls night.  I can't wait to drink a glass of wine and catch up on The Bachelor.  I hope to get a run in before we meet.  MAG is making steak salads tonight and I can't wait.  This is one of my favorite meals.  Last night we had McDonalds.  Healthy, I know.  I had a kids meal and thought to myself, I could totally eat another one of these.  Bad I know especially since I have joined Brittney's March Madness program!

March Madness: Getting Fit Together

I am joining Running in High Heels with Brittney's March Madness program.  Last Christmas I decided that I was going to change my life and start running.  Much to my surprise I have stuck with my resolution and am still running!  The day after Christmas I started Couch to 5K.  This truly motivated me to run at least 3 to 4 times per week.  I have even gotten MAG to start running.  Never in a million years did I think he would be interested running of all things!  I am on week 8 of C25K.

I have seen pretty amazing changes in my body in the past 2 months.  I don't have a stomach anymore.  Bye-bye fat rolls!  My arms and legs are slimmer and I am developing calf muscles.  Everyday when I wake up I look at myself in the mirror and think, damn I am starting to look good!

Goals for March Madness
1.  Continue to count calories.  I have been using the LoseIt!  app for my iPhone starting last week.  I love it! It really makes me realize what I am putting in my body and how much I am eating.

2.  Lose 4 to 6 pounds.  If I continue running and counting calories then I should be able to do this. Fingers crossed!

3. Incorporate weights into my weekly workouts.  Right now I lift once a week and do a totally body workout.  I have found this isn't really working.  I need to focus on a few areas each time I hit the gym.

Those are my 3 goals for March.  I have this awesome girls wedding coming up the end of April.  It will be the first time in a long time that I will see some of my old friends back home.  I want to look good.  This is also my half way point for bathing suit season.  Need to start dropping the stubborn lbs!

Top 2 Things You've Learned About Money

1.  Don't stress about the dolla, dolla bills ya'll!
I stress about almost everything.  It is one of my bad habits.  Last year I decided that I am going to stop worrying about how much $ I have in my bank account.  MAG and I are both responsible adults with a budget that we stick to each month.  Why should I spend negative energy on something when I know in the end we are going to be fine.

2.  Money can't buy happiness, but it sure can buy stuff!
I find myself saying more and more that our apartment is filled with too much stuff.  Sometimes I feel like our place is never clean because I have too many shoes or jackets laying around.  I have come to realize that this stuff is actually annoying me more than bringing be happiness.  I would rather save our money for a rainy day or Hawaii.
