Why Apartment Living Sucks in LA

When I was in college my roommate and I lived in the most awesome apartment.  It was over 1000 sq ft, had a sun room, fireplace and built-in bookshelves.  The location was ideal.  I mean who wouldn’t want to live less than two miles from Virginia Highlands?   Basically we were spoiled.  Oh and our rent was $500 a piece.  Those were the days…

{Our place decorated for Christmas 2006}

Fast-forward 6 years later and let me tell you apartment living isn’t as fun.  The other night I was at my breaking point.  I was super annoyed with our living situation for the following reasons:
  •       1 parking space: Marco parks on the street everyday and has since we moved here.  It sucks having to find parking everyday.  And the poor guy has to do street parking at his office too.  He can’t catch a break.  He was so kind to give me our one spot.
  •          We can’t have a dog.  You have heard me complain a million times about this one.  When I asked our landlord about getting a puppy she looked at me in horror, like I had just burnt the building down.  For real.
  •         Shared laundry facilities.  Why does it seem everyone has to do laundry the same night we choose to do it?!  I don’t have a problem waiting, but when you don’t get your stuff out of the washer or dryer then we have a problem.  There are timers.  Set your alarm.
  •       Earth.  What I would do for a little piece of earth to call my own.  I would plant a herb garden, maybe a lemon/lime tree and some flowers.  See I don’t need much space.

What are we going to do about this?!  Nothing.  Just bitch and complain about it until we move.  And even then I will be shocked if we are able to get all of the above.  Until then I will hate laundry days, ooo and ahh at every puppy I see and try not to get angry at M when he gets a parking ticket on street cleaning days.

Celeb Sighting

Last night was the VS Fashion Show which is pretty much the best motivation to never eat again.  Didn’t they look amazing?!  A girl can dream to look like that right?

A few weeks ago I was shopping after work on a Friday afternoon at Santa Monica Place Mall.  I was getting ready to cross the street and a woman and her daughter stood right next to me.  I glanced over and it was Alessandra Ambrosio.  Y’all she is more gorgeous in person even in workout clothes, Uggs and no make-up.  To top it all off she was carrying two large LV bags.  Sometimes life isn’t fair.

If I were...

...a beach house located in San Diego this is what I would be...

Love this saying!

I love the modern, beach twist.

Christmas Bucket List

Can you believe it is December already?  In 18 days M and I will be boarding a flight to Atlanta to spend the holidays with our families.  This year I am super excited about our trip because we will be staying with my SIL at her beautiful home.  It was hard making the decision to not stay with our parents this year, but I think this will be good for our siblings and us.   Night caps anyone?

Sunday Social

Today you get 50% of Sunday Social.  Of course I want to participate, but I have a couple posts already scheduled regarding a few questions for this week.

What is your favorite Holiday season tradition?

The neighborhood next to my parents house has one street that goes ALL OUT with Christmas lights.  There are about 20 or so homes that are decked to the max.  At some point when M and I are home {typically Christmas Eve} we look at Christmas lights with our favorite carols playing in the car.  Just the thought of this makes me so happy.  After feeling like little kids we head to one of our parents house and watch A Christmas Story.

Do you have a certain Holiday movie you watch more than others?
Who wouldn't want a cottage in the English countryside?!
Yes, The Holiday and Love Actually.  Both make my heart so happy.   M’s list is Christmas Vacation, Bad Santa and A Christmas Story.

Favorite Holiday Dessert?

I love sweets so it is hard to pick just one, but Sprinkles has the best chocolate peppermint cupcakes this time of year.
