Happy July Folks!  

First of all I can't believe it is JULY already!  Seriously, where does the time go?  The weather in Santa Monica this weekend is going to be perfect beach weather, 78 degrees!  I guess Mother Nature is going to be nice to us this year because last year we didn't ever have a summer.  It was June Gloom through September.  No bueno!

So here I am, 7.5 hours away from a much needed 3 day weekend.  I have so much energy I might bust here at my desk.  We have lots and lots to do this weekend.  My parents come in town next week, so I need to make sure my apartment is clean.  Sunday we are heading to the beach for volleyball.  Monday is our friends 4th of July party.  He has an awesome house off the Venice Canals.  Can't wait!

Friday Decisions

I am THRILLED it is Friday!  This week has been crazy busy.  Tonight MAG and I are debating on what to do for dinner.  Awesome, I know.  One thing about LA that is a little annoying is they don't have chain restaurants in the city.  Yes, they have fast food, but good luck finding one of the following:

Chili's

Olive Garden

Outback

For these restaurants you have to venture outside of the city limits to Manhattan Beach or Burbank.  Last week I told MAG I was craving chain restaurant food.  Strange, I know.  Then he responded, Yes!  We must find a Chili's.  Seriously sometimes we are so in-sync! So now the debate begins, Chili's or California Pizza Kitchen.  Ridiculous I know ;)

The weather should be nice this weekend so I am sure our plans will entail a run at the beach, a gym day, farmers market, grocery shopping, laundry, drinks of our porch-sounds like fun stuff right?!  Sunday we are heading into Hollywood to try out Five0Four.  It is a new New Orleans themed restaurant.  They are having a a Craw Fish Boil for Mardi Gras.  It will be fun to hang out with friends, listen to the band, drink daiquiris and eat beignets.

PS. Thanks for your sweet words yesterday in regards to my shredding fiasco!  All is well.  My boss was very appreciative.

Mixed Emotions

Today is weird.  I am happy it is Friday, don't get me wrong, but the last 24 hours have given me mixed emotions about a few things.  Today this cute boy, Ross-my sisters boyfriend, heads off to Afghanistan.

Ross' Mom-Pam, Kristie, Ross, My Mom-Chris, and Nicole at the Marriott in New Bern, NC.  The hotel staff made him a sign to say THANK YOU!  How sweet:)

 The love birds last weekend.

As we speak they are actually waiting for the bus to pick them up.  As I said in my post here I haven't been directly effected by the Iraq war until now.

My moms brother, Jeff, was killed during his second tour to Vietnam.  I know how a war can tear apart a family making everyone become numb to hard situations.  This is my biggest fear for Kristie and his family.  They are so madly in love, have talked about getting married and starting a family a few years after he returns.  I want this for her.  This makes me extremely sad just thinking about this.

I know some of you have reached out to me with your thoughts and condolences and I truly appreciate it.  I will continue to keep you updated with Ross and my sister.   Hopefully next month MAG and I will be volunteering for Operation Gratitude.  I am waiting to hear back from their volunteer coordinator with info.

Sorry for such a heavy topic going into the weekend.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend planned.  It will be rainy and overcast here so no running by the beach :(  We still have to see King's Speech by Sunday so we will be up to date with the Oscars.

This is how I feel today on this glorious Friday.  

No big plans for tonight.  Tomorrow is a friend of ours bday party. Sunday is the Super Bowl.  Is it bad that I am more excited about the Glee episode after the game?
