Tonight MAG and I head back to LA after an amazing week in Alpharetta. It has been a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle. Being home makes me realize that I do miss the south more than I allow myself to most of the time. I miss my family (duh) and being involved in their day to day life, my friends, less traffic, wide streets, trees, leaves changing colors, the slower pace of things, and there just seems to be less stress. I know, I know I am on vacation that is why it seems like less stress, but there is just something about the south that feels like home.
Today my mother in law asked us if we were ready to leave. I am not 100% ready, but December could be a really exciting month for us. I am up for a promotion, MAG is having his writing partner come out December 1st to say with us for a couple weeks to complete The Ocean Black, Christmas, a long weekend getaway, and New Years.
I hope you and your family are having a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!!! I hope you with your family and friends have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving. I am thrilled that we are spending our holiday with my parents and in-laws in Alpharetta, GA this year. This is the first time we have been home for the holidays since 2008 and honestly, it feels quite nice. I will do a complete recap once we get back to sunny LA:)
1. My husband, MAG. Our relationship is better than ever right now.
2. My parents and sisters. They are truly some of my best friends.
3. Our apartment. It may not be the most over the top place, but it is our home and I love how it is decorated.
4. My job. I feel so thankful to work for an amazing company and can't wait to see what my future holds. Please keep your fingers crossed.
5. MAG's drive and passion. I don't think I could have ever moved to LA on my own, but I am so glad we did it.
6. Our LA family. We get each other just like a family and I am so thankful to have each one of them in my lives. Sometimes we are dysfunctional, just like any family, but we have the best time together.
7. Target. Sometimes the best medicine or pick me up is to wander the isles alone. I know you agree with me.
8. Google Reader. I love being able to login everyday and read each one of your blogs.
9. Faceb00k. After almost 8 years being on it I am still addicted and love keeping up with my friends since I live 2000 miles away.
10. J0nathan Adler. His decorating style is amazing. His use of color is unreal. His design makes me happy.
What are you thankful for this year?

Oprah's Favorite Things
Yesterday was part one of two for Oprah's Favorite Things! This is one of my favorite episodes every year. 90% of the stuff I can't afford, but it is so fun to watch all the guest get SO excited about their gifts. Here were some items that she featured that I now need;) Are you a fan of this episode too? What did you think?
I have been looking for new shoes for months, but haven't been able to find any I liked. I can't wait to try these on this weekend! Photo Credit |

Christmas Cards!
One of my favorite things about Christmas is picking out holiday cards. I love looking at Shutterfly and picking out my favorite. There is something about finding the perfect Christmas card to send to your family and friends-it makes me smile. Yep, I am cheesy, but whateverJ Right now here are my top contenders for MBG’s Christmas card 2010.
Shutterfly is also a great place to pick up the perfect gift for Mom & Dad, Nana & Papa, and Aunts & Uncles. Last year we ordered a bunch of wedding photos, got pretty frames and sent them as gifts. They were the perfect Christmas present for our loved ones. Shutterfly is always offering amazing promotions, so check them out. Let me know what you think.
Disclaimer: As an incentive to post about Shutterfly, they are rewarding me with 50 free Christmas cards. To find out more information, please click here.

HRH Taken
The real & blog world is buzzing today about Prince Wi!!iam's engagement to Kate Midd!eton. I must say that I am thrilled these two are getting married. I think she is a doll and has waited a long time to get that ring, even thought it isn't the prettiest ring, it has sentimental meaning.
As a 12 year old girl my number one crush was HRH Prince Wi!!iam. I became infatuated with British Royalty, Princess Diana, and Wills {as they used to call him in the tabloids.} I even wrote him a letter and got a response! Well not from him, but from a secretary. It said something like this...Thank you for your letter. HRH is not allowed to respond personally, but we will make sure he gets your letter. Sincerely, insert name here. At the time I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. I actually still have the letter. Yes,I am a dork like that.

Happy Birthday My Love
Today is MAG's 29th birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my cute husband:)
M, Today you are not only another year older, but another year wiser. This time last year you told me your goals for 29. You have accomplished each and every one of them. We have a lot to accomplish before you turn 30, but I know-like always-you will exceed my expectations. I am so proud to call you my husband and best friend. Cheers to you on your bday. I love you! Brit

Santa Barbara
One of MAG and my favorite getaways is Santa Barbara. It is 1.5 hours away from LA and honestly sometimes it is just what we need. This past weekend we went up there with MAG's parents, sister and her husband. We went to brunch at Tupelo Cafe, then headed over to the mission/court house to take in the Spanish Architecture and then spent the day on State Street shopping. Overall is was a great day and I can't wait to go back over Christmas wine tasting with friends. Here are some pictures of our day.
If you are ever in Southern California then you should make a trip to for sure. It is definitely worth the drive!

Way to go Alpharetta!
I just saw this on Forbes.com. I was born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia. I loved growing up there, but am happy that we moved. MAG and I would be miserable if we still lived there. We have both come to terms that we will never live there again, but it is always nice to go home and visit. There is something about the South that makes me smile:)

Oh Wednesday Why Can't You Be Friday?
- I am so tired today:( Last night I went over to an ex-co-workers home with some friends. We had a great time playing with her 6 month old daughter and gossiping. Some things never change.
- When I came home MAG and Devin, the lead actor from The Ocean Black and good friend was over just hanging out. I love it when he and his wife are over. We always have the best time together. Lots of ideas, dreams, and wine is always shared.
- I weighed myself today. The first time since Friday. My weight hasn't changed, but my clothes fit better so I am not freaking out. Part of the reason the scale hasn't moved is because I have been eating out {as healthy as I can} like a crazy person since Saturday. I am hoping next week things will settle down a little bit. This week feels so busy. Maybe another reason why I am feeling so tired today. My goal for this week is to incorporate more weights into my workouts. The past week has mainly been cardio.
- Happy Hump Day Readers! I hope you are having a wonderful week:)

Almost Complete...
Day 24: Something you've Learned
I have learned that you can't plan everything. Yes, I am a planner and it drives MAG crazy. Some days you just have to live in the moment, that is what life is all about isn't it?! Over the past few months I have gotten better at this, but still could loosen up the reigns a little bit.
Day 25: Put your iPod on Shuffle, first 10 songs
Let me preface this by saying I love remixes!
1. Kero-Burning for you
2. The Verve-Happiness
3. Madonna-Holiday Remix
4. Kylie Minogue-Get Outta My Way
5. Lady Gaga-Alejandro Remix
6. Janet Jackson-All For You Remix
7. Fleetwood Mac-You Make Loving Fun
8. The Clash-Rock The Cashbah
9. Girl Talk-Night The Ripper
10. Not sure of the artist-Home
Day 26: Picture of Your Family
This is a small part of my "LA Family!" I am so lucky to have both of these people in my life. They welcomed us with open arms when we first moved here and we have been best friends since. We all agree with the saying, "Friends are Family that you choose."

Day 27: Pets
We want a Puggle! We have to have one when the time is right. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Day 28: Something that Stresses You Out
$$MONEY$$
I hate money. It is such a necessary evil. One day hopefully we won't have to worry about it, but until then I hate it with a passion!
Day 29: Wishes
1. In the next 5 to 7 years we can buy a home and start a family.
2. MAG gets an opportunity to direct a feature film.
3. I can be a Stay at Home Mom!
4. MAG and I have the opportunity to adopt.
5. And last but not least we are able to travel the world, stay in amazing hotels, drink fabulous wine and spend hours lounging/relaxing/doing whatever the heck we want to do! Had to throw a fun one in there:)

Bye Bye 20+ lbs
Today I was over at Running in High Heels and I felt totally inspired by Brittney's post. I have been reading her blog for a few months. She is in great shape and defiantly works hard at it. Based on what I know from her blog, she makes time to workout almost everyday. Well, I think her newest post might be the inspiration that I needed.
Recently I checked my BMI and was right on the cusp of being considered overweight. Well this freaked me out. I have struggled with weight my entire life fluctuating 5 pounds in college and as an adult 10 pounds. Today is the day I am going to have my eye on the prize, get healthy and watch the fat melt away.
How am I going to do it?
1. Track my food. Everything I put into my mouth will be written down.
2. Exercise my butt off literally! We have a gym at work so I will be hitting it during my lunch break 3 times a week and then hit our gym in Westwood at night with MAG 2-3 times a week.
3. Reward myself when I hit my goals {not with food}.

1. Run a mile in 11 minutes
2. Train for a 5K
3. Lose 5 lbs by Thanksgiving and not gain it all back at dinner
4. Lose 7 lbs by Christmas
5. Lose 7 lbs by Valentines Day
6. Lose whatever else my body will let me naturally just in time for Melissa's big day!
6. Keep the weight off for good!!!
I am open to any and all suggestions you might have!

MJ+Cirque du Soleil=Amazingness!
Yesterday while I saw scrolling through my Google Reader I saw that Cirque du Soleil was putting on a Michael Jackson show called The Immortal. MAG is a huge fan of MJ's music to the point where he used to walk around with a silver glove and perform infront of family members. Please keep in mind he was 4 years old.
Today I was surfing Facebook and someone updated their status saying they got tickets. I immediately texted MAG saying, "We have to get tickets!" He agreed, so 10 minutes later they were purchased. We are both so excited and never do anything like this. The annoying part is the show doesn't come to LA until 1/27/2012! Yep, we have to wait over a year to see it, but in my mind it is completely worth it!

Get Ready: Days 18-23
Well this 30 days of blogging was a good idea at the beginning, as you can see from the title I am just a few days behind. Here we go…
Day 18: Something you regret
One thing that I always wished I did was go to an SEC school. I went to Georgia State University and had a great time studying my major, Hospitality, but it was more of a commuter school. It was hard to make friends and have the whole college experience. With this said I think things would have been different with MAG and I if I had experienced a bigger school.
Day 19: Something you miss
I really miss the freedom and little responsibility of college. As a college student I couldn’t wait to join the real world. Now I am here and have been for a few years. Honestly it isn’t all that it is cracked up to be. I enjoy the company I work for but on most days I would love to sleep late or only work 3 days a week.
Day 20: Nicknames
Brit, AllieBrit, Brittles, Babe, Bratney, Brit the Brat, Whitnella
Day 21: Picture of yourself
This is me at my Bridal Luncheon in Buckhead at my aunts house. It was one of the most wonderful days to be surrounded by so many of the women I loved and help raise me.
Day 22: Favorite City
This is a hard one because I love LA. I know this is weird, and some days I feel like the city is against me. I think the reason I love it so much is because this is where our dreams are going to come true. We moved out here with a purpose and aren’t leaving until it is done. A close second is NYC. MAG and I used to travel there at least once a year in high school and college. It holds a very special place in my heart. Our last trip {almost 4 years ago;(}
Day 23: Favorite Vacation
This is a hard one…MAG and I have been on lots of vacations together. I think my most favorite was with my family at Folly Beach/Charleston. Charleston has always been so special to my family. As a kid we grew up going there every summer on our way to Pawley’s Island , SC. This particular trip wasn’t anything different than any other family vacation, but I was older and more appreciative for what kind of vacation they had given us. As I have mentioned in previous posts I can’t wait for my parents to retire there and go back and visit.
