This is how I feel today on this glorious Friday.

No big plans for tonight.  Tomorrow is a friend of ours bday party. Sunday is the Super Bowl.  Is it bad that I am more excited about the Glee episode after the game?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend:)

Resolutions Recap

I know we are a few days into February already.  I can't believe how fast this year is FLYING by.  I wanted to do a recap of my New Year resolutions to keep me accountable:)  Let's do it...

1. Plan and stick to a weekly menu that MAG and I put together.  We spend way too much time and money at the grocery store.  This will help us eat healthier, save money & time.  This is going okay.  Could be doing a better job.  Both of us are learning to cook so this is an experiment in itself.
2. Pay down credit card debt.  We did a pretty good job with this towards the end of last year, but now it is time to really focus.  My goal is to pay it down so I can get a new car.  Even though we can afford a car payment I feel like the money should be going towards debt, not something that I want.  We are moving full steam ahead!  I think this will take some getting used to, but the reward will be SO worth it.
3. Continue to run and lift more weights.   Definitely running more which I am enjoying {never thought those words would come out of my mouth!}  Lifting weights? Not so much.  Hopefully will be getting into a routine this month.
4. Build more friendships.  LA is really hard to make friends.  I have some girls that I love working with and I want to build better relationships with them. A+ so far.  A few weeks ago I went out with my work girlfriends for drinks.  We had a fabulous time and are planning our next outing for later this month.
5. Watch less TV and read more!  I am not a reader at all, well I read blogs, does that count?  I would like to read 12 books this year.  I am starting with Love The One Your With by Emily Giffin. FAIL big time!  I have read about 15 pages of Love the One Your With.  A couple days ago MAG asked me if I wanted a Kindle.  I looked at him and chuckled, "Because I read so much, right?"

Perspective

Yesterday was interesting for me.  I spent the entire day upset about my phone.  Yes, it is silly, but I really love having this little luxury.  Last night while MAG was cooking dinner I decided to catch up on some Oprah episodes.  I watched the Military show that was on Thursday of last week.  At first I didn't know if I wanted to watch such an sad/intense topic but for whatever reason I did.  All I can say is WOW! I feel like such a spoiled brat on so many levels.  The show started out by talking to Cory Breist from South Dakota.  You can watch his story below.
About half way through I looked at MAG and busted into tears.  I just spent the day feeling sorry for myself about my stupid phone and here is a soldier who gave his life to serve our country, was hit by a bomb and is now blind, learning how to speak again and has to go to physical therapy 3 times per week.  After watching this 2 minute segment my perspective towards life changed. I need to be more conscience about how lucky/thankful/blessed I am to live the life that I have.

In a few weeks my sister, Kristie, bf is going to Afghanistan.  He is a Marine and will be going to one of the most dangerous areas of the country.  This is his first tour.  He joined the Marines because he didn't have a clear path in college and didn't want to go just to go.  He wanted to grow up and figured the military would be the best place for him to do that.  Please keep my sister in your thoughts and prayers.  As of now he will be back in September, but as we all know tours can/are always extended.

MAG and I are looking for a way to help military families or soldiers.  If you have any suggestions please let me know.

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I am LOVING that we are half way through the week and looking forward to the weekend.

I am LOVING that my boss is back in town.  Days go by so much quicker when he is here.

I LOVE running a few times a week.  I feel great and can really tell I am improving.

I am LOVING that AppleC@re will fix my shattered iphone screen.

Top Two Tuesday...Things You've Learned About Friendship

Top 2 things you've learned about friendship

1. Friends are family you pick.  My LA family consists of about 12 of us.  We spend birthdays, holidays and random nights together drinking, playing the Wii or Sunday's at the beach.  We always say we don't know what we would do without one another!

2. In life you don't need a lot of friends, just really amazing ones!  In HS I was always envious of the popular girls for many reasons, but one was they always had a lot of friends.  Over time I have come to realize that it is okay to have a handful of friends that you truly love.  For me it is my sisters, Allie, Corey, Melissa and my parents.  Knowing that they support me in everything I do means the world to me.

On a side note, is there ever a time of the month where you drop EVERYTHING?  Well I do.  My friends say it is because I am ovulating?  Not sure if this is true or not, but today I am having one of those days.  For example, I dropped my iphone and shattered the screen first thing this morning.  I am so mad at myself for doing this you have no idea!  Apple wants to charge me $199.  I can send it in to a repair shop online and they will do it for $69.  I tried to see if MAG could fix it, but he said no way.  So it looks like I am going with option B and wasting spending $69 on an accident.

I started week 4 of C25K.  I was really nervous to start this week.  Running for 5 minutes straight intimidated me like crazy, but I did it!  Looking forward to hitting the treadmill tomorrow and running my iphone sorrows away!
