Reflection

In the past 3 to 4 months my personal life has changed drastically.  Mainly for the better, but it has taken some getting used to.  Earlier this year MG and I were in the same old routine day in and day out, which I was fine with.  One day I told him I wanted a change.  I wasn't sure what type of change I wanted but just something to spice up our everyday life.  Well no less than a month later my world changed.

*My best friend/sister-in-law {Allie} and her husband moved back to Alpharetta.  They had been living in LA for just over a year.  I knew they weren't happy here, but I thought they would move back later in the year, around Christmas time.  We have been friends since I was 14 and always dreamed of living in LA together.  I still miss her terribly, but I know she is much happier now.

*My other best friend, C, is expecting.  This might have hit me harder than Allie leaving.  When Al told us they were moving my first thought was I am going to be okay because I still have C here.  A month later C tells us her news.  It took me a long time to process this, but I am now happy to report how THRILLED I am for them.  On Saturday night they had their Gender Reveal Party.  They are having a baby boy {shhh it's still a secret for the next few days until they tell everyone}!  I couldn't be more excited.  They are making this next step work for them which gives me hope for when it is time for us to have a family.

*Health and Fitness. This has always taken a back seat in our lives, but now it is a priority and I couldn't be happier.  I am LOVING Bar Method and am not sure what I am going to do once my trial membership runs out.  It is pretty pricey:(

*Just be Happy!  Some days I really miss living in Atlanta especially when I read posts like this.  It is such a young city with so much to offer, but then  I have to think to myself how lucky I am to live out here.  When MG and I first moved out here we lived in Burbank {the Valley} with one wall unit for AC {it was hot} and slept on a blow up mattress for 9 months.  To look at where we started 3 short years ago still amazes me.  Some days I think that I am the luckiest person in the world.

Nothing earth shattering has happened the last few months, but I am happy and that is really all that matters.  I am a firm believer in the quote below:)

Friday!

I am thrilled it is Friday.  A little tired today, but with the weekend right around the corner I think I will be able to make it through:)

I came across this blog from another blogger.  Hilarious!  Must check it out.

I saw this on Pintrest. Thoughts?

Oh Thursday...

Thought for the day.

Tonight my bestie, C, is coming over for girls night.  I can’t wait!  It has been 2 weeks since we have hung out last and I miss her.  We will be catching up on The Bachelorette and planning her gender reveal party for Saturday.  She has so graciously asked me to help and I love a good party. Done deal.

I stepped on the scale this AM and lost 2 lbs…score!  And someone at my office asked if I have been losing weight…double score.

I am obsessed with Hanging with Friends.  Everyday at lunch the girls and I play.  It’s a fun way to pass the time and not think about work.

MG is going to look at a Jeep tonight.  The first one didn’t work out so on to the next one.  My fingers are crossed.

Last weekend we went to the Glendon, in Westwood.  They have the best drinks and deserts.  We ordered the warm cookies with fresh bourbon whip cream.  I have been craving it all week.

July is almost over.  This year is flying by…crazy!

We started Christmas shopping this week.  Random I know.  Nordstrom reeled us in with their sale.  I also decided what I wanted from MG this year for Xmas-a vintage LV.  They sell them at the Rose Bowl Flea Market and every time we go I always obsess over them.  This year one of them will be mine-can’t wait!

A month until Cabo…

San Diego

I was looking through my summer FB album and realized I forgot you recap my trip to San Diego for my birthday.  My parents were in town and honestly, LA gets a little boring after you have visited enough times.  My dad grew up here, my mom visited a lot growing up so they have done the touristy stuff already.  MG and I decided that we should trek down to SD for the weekend.  We took Friday off {my actually birthday}.  I woke up and headed to Dry Bar.  I loved it!  It was so girly and fun.

At lunch time my came over and we headed south on the 405.  It took about 2 hours or so to get down there which isn't bad.  Our first stop was The Yard House.  They have hundreds of beers on tap and great food.  We hung out for a little bit and then headed to our hotel to check in.

We stayed in Old Towne SD.  It was awesome and I would recommend staying there if you visit, at least for one night.  My only request for the weekend was we spend Friday night at The Shout House-a dueling piano bar.  This is my favorite place in the Gas Lamp District.  Let's just say the night did not disappoint.  We had the best time.  One of their famous local sayings is, "You Bitch! You Slut! You Whore!" after someone has been serenaded for their birthday or bachlorette party.  This became the phrase of the weekend with my mom.  She loved it-shockingly-and now wants to use it for our family birthday parties.  Too cute!  we got back to the hotel around 1 AM, ate pizza and went to bed.  It was pretty fun parting with my parents.

Saturday morning we woke up and walked to Old Towne.  It is like you are in Mexico so I instantly loved it.  We grabbed breakfast and then walked around all the shops.  I stocked up on tile and pottery.  Later that afternoon M and I grabbed a couple margaritas, sat on the patio and enjoyed life while my parents were resting.

Early evening we headed down to Coronado-my favorite.  My mom used to vacation here so it was like a walk back in time for her.  We parked in one of the neighborhoods and walked along the boardwalk to Hotel Del dreaming about what it would be like to live across the street.  For dinner we headed to Miguel's which is now my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant in CA solely because they serve queso!  I have been looking for 3 years for queso and haven't found it until now.  This was the cherry on top of a great birthday weekend!

Sunday morning we stopped in La Jolla for brunch at this cute little place with a view of the ocean.  We were all pretty wiped out from a fantastic weekend away.  It was the perfect way to celebrate 27!

What I am Loving

I'm LOVING where I am at this point in life.  I see a lot of people who get/have everything now.  How fun is it when you don't have something you are striving for?  When MG and I decided to move to LA we knew it would be a struggle.  We wouldn't have the life we could have in Georgia.  A lot of it is material things, but unfortunately that is the way life works.  These things are important {house, car-not the clothes, jewelry, DVDs, the newest TV, whatever} .  We may not own a house until we are 40 or start a family until things become more stable and I am finally okay with it.  In my heart I have to have faith on why we are out here, trying to make this dream come true, and it this is so much bigger than us.  I have to have this attitude or else I would not be the most pleasant person to live with.  {You might see this become a reoccurring theme on my blog. MG is in the budgeting stage for his movie.  As of now he is wearing all hats of this project.}

Last night M and I talked for hours about movies, TV, Hollywood, actors/actresses, everything.  Even though we aren't in the very tight circle yet, I know there will be a time in our life where he will be able to voice his opinion.  Last week, Jeffery Katzenberg said movies suck right now.  I couldn't agree more.  They are awful.  Hollywood needs to be open to new talent and different ways to tell a story.  95 sequels in the works right now-seriously! Whatever happened to movies like American Beauty, Lost In Translation, Fargo?

Sorry for my rant.  I have faith in MG and know that he has the skills, talent and passion to make an amazing movie.  I just wish someone would give him the chance.  It will happen:)
